The import of pets to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is regulated by the Animal Wealth Department of the Ministry of Environment & Water. Pet owners require an Import Permit for each animal in question before it is allowed to enter the Abu Dhabi. Please note: The Import Permit for the pet relocation will only be valid for one month, and by UAE law your pet will have to be transported via cargo. All dogs, cats, and ferrets must be micro-chipped first then vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months, before arriving in Abu Dhabi and must be accompanied by the certificate. Pets must also be accompanied by a Export Health Certificate signed and stamped by a licensed government veterinarian in the country of origin before the pet relocation. Laboratory blood-testing for Brucella, Ehrlichia and Babesia is also require for dogs. Dogs must also vaccinated against Distemper, hepatitis, Parcovirus and Leptospirosis. Cats have to be vaccinated agains Pan Leukropenia, Rhinotrachitis and Calicivirus. These are pet relocation guidelines only which are subject to change. Contact its Customer Services Section.
