Pet Relocation to Burkina Faso

Pet Relocation; Burkina Faso does not require pets to be micro-chipped although when travelling internationally it is always highly recommended. All pets require an ‘import permit’ issued by the Burkina Faso Authorities. Dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months, before entering Burkina Faso – a certificate for this must accompany the pet together with a export health certificate signed, stamped and dated within 48 hours by a licensed government veterinarian in country of origin stating that the pet is free from parasites and any infectious diseases prior to entering Burkina Faso All other pets (birds, invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals such as rodents and rabbits) are not subject to the regulations of the anti-rabies vaccination but may have to meet other requirements including the number of animals and certificates to accompany them in respect of other diseases. You are strongly advised to seek further details from the relevant authority of their country and/or that of the country ofdestination. These are guidelines only which are subject to change. Contact the Embassy of Burkina Faso or its Consulate for current requirements.
