Pet Relocation to Costa Rica


Pet Move; Dogs and cats entering Costa Rica require a International Veterinary Export Health Certificate that states that dogs and cats have all the vaccines (Issue date of the certificate must be no more than 3 months old). This Certificate must be issued by a licensed government veterinarian in country of origin. If the document is signed only by a veterinarian, it is necessary to specify the complete name of the veterinarian, clinic, address, and phone number. The examination for the certificate must be conducted within the one week prior to entering Costa Rica.
Veterinary Export Health Certificate Statements;
The dog or cat was examined and found to be healthy and free of any clinical signs of infectious disease.
Vaccination Requirements;-DOGS – distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus.
rabies – for animals 4 months or older. Dogs and cats older than 4 months must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days, but not more than 6 months, prior to entering Costa Rica.
