Pet Relocation to Hungary

Pet Relocation; Pets must be micro-chipped FIRST then vaccinated for rabies at least 21 days (30 days if being imported from a none EU member state) but not more than 12 months. Pets being imported from a country with a high incidence of rabies must have a Blood Titer Test 90 days in advance of import to avoid your pet going into quarantine.
A completed “Pet Passport” is acceptable from certain countries under the ‘pet travel scheme’ but pets arriving from countries outside the “Pet Travel Scheme” will require a rabies vaccination certificate together with a export health certificate from country of origin signed, stamped and dated by a licensed government veterinarian within 48 hours of export and must show all current vaccinations.
Unvaccinated puppies and kittens under 3 months old at time of export may enter from another EU member state. Some breeds of dogs are prohibited from entering Hungary.
These are guidelines only which are subject to change. Contact the Embassy of Hungary for current requirements for bringing pets into the country.
