Pet Relocation; All dogs and cats must be micro-chipped FIRST then vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months, a certificate is required.
Dogs must also be vaccinated against, distemper, parvovirus and leptospirosis with veterinary certificate to prove this had been done. Cats and dogs will also require a export health certificate signed, stamped and date by a licensed government veterinary in country of origin within 7 days of travelling. Domestic pets like dog, cat, birds, etc. can be brought in by tourists of whether foreign or Indian origin but import of animals or birds is governed by strict health certificate regulations, which should be fulfilled prior to entering India. In the case of parrots, a certificate to the effect that the parrots were subjected to a compliment fixation test of psittacosis with negative results within 30 days prior to actual embarkation.
