Pet Relocation to Lao Peoples Democratic Republic

Bringing pets into Laos; All Pets entering Laos must have been vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months prior to entering the country and must be accompanied by a export health certificate signed, stamped and dated by a licensed government veterinarian in country of origin within 4 days of export. Before entering Laos, all dogs must be vaccinated again distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis and leptospirosis. All vaccinations given must be carried out by a licensed government veterinarian and must be accompanied with a certificate. Although not mandatory, we strongly advise that pets should be micro-chipped – this should take place before being vaccinated against rabies. Owners should take measures to isolate their pets from contact with other local animals. Owners should remember that Laos has little (if any) treatment against ticks and fleas so would be well advised to have a plentiful supply before travelling here. Further supplies can be replenished in Bangkok. Laos carries limited stocks of cat/dog food and cat litter, veterinary services are limited, and few vaccines or medications are available. These are guidelines only which are subject to change – Contact the Laos Authorities, or the Embassy of Laos for current requirements about pet travel into their country.
