Pet Relocation to Uganda

Bringing pets into Uganda; Dogs or cats brought into UgandaP et must be accompanied by a export health certificate signed, stamped, and dated within 4 days by a licensed government veterinarian in country of origin. Pet must also be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate showing that the pet had been vaccinated at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months prior to arriving in Uganda. At the moment there are several veterinarians used by the community who can perform basic check-ups, health maintenance and sterilization. Medicines are generally available, but some supplies such as flea collars must be brought with you. Filaria is endemic to Uganda, so bring enough supply of heartworm pills to cover your pet’s stay.. These are obtainable only through a veterinarian. They cannot be ordered from a pet-supply store and are not available locally. A word of caution to owners of elderly or sickly dogs — several dogs in the last several years have found the local conditions too harsh.
These are guidelines only which are subject to change. Contact the Embassy of Uganda for current requirements and possible acceptance of a “Pet Passport”.
