Pet Relocation to Vanuatu

 


Bringing pets to Vanuatu; Vanuatu has very strict quarantine regulations for pets coming into the country. Prior to bringing a pet to Vanuatu you must apply for an Import Permit from the Vanuatu Quarantine & Inspections Service.
Pets can ONLY enter Vanuatu from the countries of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Pets may NOT enter Vanuatu from any other country.
Dogs must be accompanied by a vaccination certificate showing it had been vaccinated against distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza. In the case of a booster vaccination, the booster was given at least 30 days, but not more than 12 months, prior to export. In the case of puppies receiving a primary course the final vaccination was given at 12 weeks of age or older. All dogs to be treated for either of the following; Hydatid tapeworm with praziquantel (Droncit) at a dose of 5 mg/kg within 4 days of departure. treated with an anthelmintic effective against roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms within 4 days of departure. Failure to comply with these regulations will mean that your pet may be refused entry and the relevant authority in consultation with an authorized veterinarian can decide to return the pet home, or place the pet in quarantine at the expense of the owner or natural person responsible for pet, or as a last resort, without financial compensation, put the pet down where the return trip home or quarantine cannot be arranged.
